1980 Volvo 265 with Chevy 4.3 V6 - Cruise control?
I just purchased a 1980 Volvo 265 GLE. It is a very nice car, been worked on, repainted, low mile 4.3 Chevy V6 installed, rebuilt 700r4 transmission, etc.
I will be driving it from here to St. Louis (about 250 miles) and back a few times a month on the interstate. The problem is that even with my average height of 5'9'', the seat doesn't go back far enough and so using the throttle puts my leg in an awkward position making it very uncomfortable after a long period of time. Getting the cruise control to work would solve this. Its not an issue around town, only on the highway.
The car came with cruise control so it has the controls inside for the that. However. I don't see anything under the hood to connect the cruise control the Chevy engine, which was installed long before I got the car. I don't know anything about how the original cruise worked on this car. I don't see a servo anywhere, or any disconnected wiring that may have gone to a cruise control servo. I assume it was under the hood, like the Chevy and fords I've always had, but maybe Volvo had it somewhere else. I don't know.
Anyone know anything about these old Volvos that might possibly be able to help me with this?
