1981 Jeep j10 trans shift & slippage problems
hi im new and i have a trans question. i recently purchased a 1981 jeep j10. it has a torqueflite 727 trans. I pull a camper with it. it pulls for the first 12-15 miles perfect, then begins to shift rapidly 2nd to 3rd back and forth and begins to slip, at which point i shut it down. i do have a trans cooler on it. is there a fix. normally unloaded it shifts fine.

Sounds like when it gets Hot it's losing pressure, internal seals, Pump clearance problems etc.. may be time for a rebuild. A pressure test Cold & Hot will help diagnose the problem.
