1982 ss elcamino transmission swap
Hello to all fellow HotRodders, Im new to this site, and I have no prior exp. post in forums, however my question(s) is: im wanting to swap out my th350 tranny for a 700r4 and im wondering how painful and costly is this work to complete? also I can pick up a 700r from a friend for a couple hundred bucks so i guess im asking what other parts and expenses are there? thanks!

The TH2004R is an easier swap but, the TH700R4 will work.
Shorten the DS/DriveShaft 3" and Mod the Trans Crossmember. TV/ThrottleValve Cable. $15-$30 TV Cable Bracket. $20-$35 TV geometry corrector Bracket if using an Aftermarket Carb= Holley, Edelbrock etc.. $20 Lockup Kit for TCC/TorqueConverterClutch. $15-$160 4-Speed O/D Shifter. Used $50up/New$150-$200

You'll also have to figure out something for the crossmember. The 700's mount location is 2" farther back.
