1982 Trans Am W/ BW T 10 - using torque arm
Hi guys. I'm new to this board, and I am running into a problem with my Trans Am. It has a Borg Warner T 10, which made no provisions for the torque arm. When I bought the car, it had a straight piece of steel welded to the mount, which I broke about 5 times in the first 8 mos I had the car. I got tired of that, and wrapped a ratcheting tie down strap around the damn thing, holding it tight to the shifter, which broke the bolt hole in the tailshaft. I am thinking about this as a fix - Using a 1/8 in thick, 1 1/2 in tall angle steel, bolting the end of the torque arm through it using the 2 stock holes. Then, drilling a hole through the tranny crossmember, bolting the fabricated mount to the crossmember. Does this sound feasible, or do y'all think it will break?
