1984 Corvette bolt ons.

The 84 Vette was the worst, it was rated at 205 hp. What if we bolted on a pair of Edelbrock RPM cylinder heads and a Comp Cam ( 230 duration with a .480 lift )???? How much more HP or Torque would we receive???

Electronic Dual Throttle Body Fuel Inj. and yes the computer would be hooked up.

So back to the original post. What was the hold back of the 1984 Corvette. If we did a cam swap and head swap...would a 1984 Vette see a significant change????

I do not have a Vette but the 1984 Corvette was slow...and now they are cheap as hell. I was wondering if a pair of Edelbrock RPM cylinder heads and a cam swap would perk that car up.

there isn`t much you can do for a cross fire injection system, also known as the cease fire injection. the ports in the intake are half the size of the head ports, these intakes suffer from real poor distribution problems. yes you could bolt on the heads, but you wouldn`t see much of a gain due to the restrictiveness of the intake. as for the cam, one of that duration is out, the stock computer system can`t handle duration like that without some extensive mods. to run a cam this size you would also have to bump up the compression ratio and free up the exhaust system and add a stall converter if the car`s a automatic. Most i`ve seen removed the cease fire injection and added a carb. and intake.

Hey Double V, this is interesting. I see a ton of 84 Vettes on the market for $3000 in decent shape. They already have 3.31 stock posi rear ends with fat tires..and from what I`m researching the suspension is really good. So with some mods, like a Carb, Heads, cam,mid 70`s distributer , get rid of the computer....we could actually turn that 205 hp to a 350 hp for about $1500 bucks considering the work is done at home. Agree??

I wonder where my friend 1bad80 is..........

The only problem I see with that Keith is getting that 84 smoged afterwards. I don't know about anyone else, but here in Cali they are pretty strict about the visual aspect of the engine bay...

I hear you GT. I`m originally from Buffalo...besides the snow we had inspections yearly...we used to go to the ghetto and buy the stickers for about $20 bucks!! LOL

Now I`m down here in Orlando and there is NO laws anywhere that are enforced. I have a 86 T/A that wouldn`t even pass 1960 emmissions in Cali! I didn`t want to leave the snow, I left the inspections!

Isn`t there a way around the inspections in Cali?? You guys don`t have a ghetto where you can get your vehicles inspected?

There`s got to be a loop hole.......

i converted my 84 vette to tpi, i used a harness and intake setup from an 86 vette put in roller rockers and an emissions cam from crane and it woke it up. but u have to change all the accessory brackets and fan shroud and hood to use the tpi. it was a lot of work.

The only way to get around it is to shell out some cash to the right person. The hard part is finding that right person. Not to many guys out there are willing to loose thier license for a few bills. It was pretty easy a couple of years ago, but with everything being so strict, it's easy for them to get caught, i guess.
