1985 chevy 350
Need some help with my sons 350. Motor has been running fine for awhile now. Cobalt327 and a few others helped me get it going last summer. The other day my son was driving it down our street and when he returned home he said he had trouble getting it started again and that the battery had died. When I went out to check it out the battery was dead. We charged the battery but when he turned it over it took along time before it started and when it did it was real rough. Then it died out as if it was flooded. It never started again. We had to charge the battery again after several more attempts. It appeared to be getting plenty of fuel, however I took the carb off anyway and took it apart and cleaned it out. We put it back on with a new fuel filter and no luck again. It seemed to me as if it were out of time the way it ran the last time it started. I checked the timing and it showed about 18 with the vacuum advance plugged. I am pretty sure we had set it at 12-14. I checked if distibutor was loose but it was not. I could not get the truck to start but it will turn over so I tried to set the timing back to 12-14. It appears to be at 12 now but still no luck. It tries to run but will not stay running. Any ideas whats wrong or what I can check? Could the timing chain have slipped? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks aarias-31
