1985 S10 ,700r4 lock up problems

New posting here but I see crossley is the 700r4 man.
1985 S10, trans works fine, shifts little late in fourth 53mph
lockup has problems , when cold first few miles will lockup, then goes out.will not lockup after warm,I do have this trans hot wired with toggle switch.also just to note this trans will lockup in third also..my tv cable is set correct, just trying to get ideas before i through parts at it..I thought maby bad torq converter. but when it does lockup it does not slip..also this is a progressive problem it use to work for 40 miles than became less and less like i said it does not shudder when it does go out...thanks in advance for any help.

You have a leak in the lock up circuit. Could be solenoid, pressure switch could be converter related. When trans gets up to temperature , the problem begins = as I read your post.

Since you have the lockup ''hot wired'' , the pressure switches may be out of the equation on the problem.

Lock up solenoids with age will crack internally and leak.

I would start repairs inside the pan, it is easier to remove than the converter
