1986 Chevy 2.8L question

New member with a question. But first, hello to the rest of you fellow hot rodders out there.

I have a 1986 S10 with the 2.8L v6 and was wondering if the 2.8L out of an 86 Camaro would drop right in my truck with only having to change the intake to TBI from the multi-point the Camaros used? This is just to keep my rig rolling for another year or so until I can afford to do the ever popular V8 swap.

probably will. Check part numbers on intake gaskets for both, it should be the same. Been a while since Ihave seen something quite that old so I dont recall from the top of my head.
I would look to see if the ignition is the same, as far as distributor or if it will fit. I do not recall. I would look over the prospect, for stuff like that.I think the long block (bare) would be the same with just the need to change over dizzy, intake, belt drives, etc.

2.8L follow up

I don't have the luxury of having the rest of the donor car to look at. I had planned to just transfer everything from my current 2.8L (externally) to the one I aquired from the Camaro from the same year. Thank you for your help. I have more confidence now.

as long as you had the engine to compare was what I meant.Look at the motor itself, use all the stuff from you s 10. should be fine.
things like distributors will be different (i think) you know... what was mentioned.
