1986 fuel pumps?

helllo


i was just wondering if anyone could tell
me if the fuel pumps on a 86 full size bronco fi is wired into the cpu or eec
some say it is some say it aint i have a shop manuel but dosent show wether its wired or not in route to cpu.any help would be greatful.it would also awnser a big question for me.thx pjs

The pump(s) is controlled by the ECM. Upon starting, the ECM opens the fuel pump relay to provide fuel. If the engine starts, the relay is kept open. If it fails to start (or you sit in the truck with the key on...engine not running), the relay is closed. Of course you understand the purpose of the inertia switch.

I don't think the fuel pump is hooked to the ECU like they are on new cars. When you turn on the ignition the fuel pump is energized. So the fuel pressure increases to the set level the pump shuts off until the pressure drops to a secific level then it turns back on.

What problem are you having.
