There was a guy in Quebec city I saw that had modified a Chevrolet Chevette (2 Door) and put a Chevy 350 in it. Room is going to be your main problem with this project. you can either lenthen the front end to accept the V8, or Cut out the firewall to fit the v8. The guy I had seen had taken the hard way, Cutting and rebuilding the firewall. In his case, he had cut the windshield and notched it to enable the Air intake Bol to be there. Driveshaft was a custom model etc etc etc. The car was a racetrack vehicule only, and Hence he didn't mind the modifications, but that would surely make any vehicule a Mostly track vehicule. Also, the guy said the car's short wheelbase was a problem, because traction was a problem at the track. The car tends to wheelies, keeping it straight is hard etc...Larges tires at the back, short wheelbases and lots of power don't go well together he said...

This is a Big project, but doable, I've seen it. I can only imagine what the design needs are and I'm sure the guy spend countless days thinking over his project and countless nights raging about troubles he's faced. But the rewards and satisfaction of being able to do it must be nice also..

Good luck with your project.

hey thxs parisienne66, i dont know to much about lenghting the frame but cutting the firewall wouldn't be a bad idea. I also have seen a sbc in a chevette a 355 with nitorus and my buddy put in a 427 big block in a chevette as well but is'nt the 400 pontiac wider than the 427 wider as in the heads are farther apart than a normal big block ??
