1987 3/4 ton cab on a 79 shortbed frame?

Ok this is gonna fall under a few categories, but ill start with the Body/Exterior forum. I just purchased 2 trucks a Chevy 79 1/2 ton 4wd shortbed that has had the frame cleaned and re-undercoated and just needs to be put back together but i also purchased a 87 3/4 ton 4wd with Mint interior and New Gm crate motor. So heres the situation I dont have interior for the 79 and the 87 has a bent frame. Heres my Question, Will the 87 Cab bolt onto the 79 frame? If so what other problems am i looking at other than the Fuel Pump and Gas Tank placement? Any thoughts or suggestion will be apreciated.

Steve

P.s both trucks had a Th350 bolted to them and im only getting 1 transmission and 1 Np-203. The 87 had a np-208, but The Tranny and np-203 that im getting came out of the 79 so i think all my driveshafts etc will be good. I hope......

the cab should bolt on ok.are you going to use the 87 front clip also? the 79 hood is held by the fenders and the hood goes the whole way back to the windshield.the 87 has a bolt on grille over the wipers.hope this helps

You should be able to do this with mostly the parts you have. I know the 4-wd cab has a different floor (Bigger hump). But, aside from trim and other minor production differences. The cabs should be a bolt on. Use the front clip that correspond with the body. Mark all the loose wiring and match up senders etc.

The frame is a little different at the very front but the older style frame can be trimmed to match the 87 style and the bumper will then work. Bob
