1987 corvette security light in dash

Got my horns working today, the new relay I had bought was bad, discovered by tracing the green wire in the DIC probed and had no fire, all that after tearing away under the hood in wireing harness, and checking all the fusible link wires, any way........same problem exist with the security system, car will on it's own decide when it will start or not, turn on the key and nothing, security light on the dash is constantly flashing, after a failed try, I wait maybe 20 min and it will fire right up, I don't have the remote keyless entry fob yet, have tried locking and unlocking the doors with the key has no effect, have also changed the relay near the firewall on the left side of the engine compartment, have no idea what it does, parts store said it was a multi switch, horn, dash, etc.....what do ya think I can try...fuse in the thieft slot in the dash is good too.

is the ignition key cylinder the original? GM key cylinders with VATS will eventually wear out, well the contacts in the cylinder that are for the VATS resistor in the key will. that will cause the security system to disable vehicle starting. do you have an ohmmeter? measure across the two brass terminals on the key to determine the value of the VATS resistor. from your trips under the dashboard, did you notice a rather thin cable in the area of the steering column wiring. it should have two wires in it, maybe sheathed in black or orange, two pin connector possibly also. those wires lead up to the ignition cylinder VATS contacts. if you can locate those wires, disconnecting them and bypassing them with the proper resistance, you'll disable that function of the security system, allowing the car to start. a good source of the resistor you'll need would be a shop that does remote starters. they can probably help you determine the value of said resistor if you don't have the ohmmeter. or replace the key cylinder, but i can't help you there.
hope this helps.
