1987 Mustang LX convertible L4 to V8 conversion

I just picked up a real clean 87 Mustang LX convertible (automatic) for a good price but the 4 banger has got to go. I would like to drop a chevy small block or LS platform engine into it. If thats not realistic I will probably go with a 5.8.

Thanks for the welcome mat guys. I thought about tweaking the 2.3 Matt but either way I'm gonna spend a few grand and when I'm done I would still have a 2.3. No offense to the guys running 2.3s. But i'm a chevy motor fan(have always had great service out of them) and I've blown up a few Fords.
Later folks.
