1988 700r4 lockup question

will it hurt my trans if i put a switch in line for the lockup converter ? like when im running in town i can keep it off, but if i am on the highway i can turn it on ? and if so what wire would i break ?

No it won't hurt any thing, in fact it is a good thing in view of the recent gas prices. I have used a dash mounted O/D switch for years on 3 different cars that had 700r4's, 1 with a manual shift valve body installed. On 1 car I installed a B+M O/D lock in lock out system so I can select the speed that O/D engages. If you race the car with the B+M wired in make sure you disconnect it before the race or it will put you in O/D at about 85 MPH even with the selector at max.
