1988 camaro 700r4

I was wondering if the trans out of my 88 camaro with a 2.8v6 would mate to chevy 350? I was told once that it would not, The bell houseing bolts were different?

You were told correctly, it will not. The bellhousing of the 2.8 will actually fit inside of the 350's bellhousing area and not even come close to matching any of the bolts required to mount it to the 350 engine.

Even if it were to bolt to the 350, it wouldn't hold up for very long.
Without trying to go into details, the V-6 transmission internals would not hold up for very long with a V-8 in front of it.
