1988 mazda 626 automatic

My transmission has park, Reverse and neutral.... when putting it into drive it just revs around 1500 rpms.. if i put it down into low and just barely push the peddle and let off of it it will creep/jump forwards.. but in drive it will not move anywhere.. any ideas on what the problem.. More than likely the transmission is dead.. when my parents had the car they had to have the transmission worked on and about a year or so i had to have it worked on again.. soo this car is just kind of becoming a hole.. Any ideas what to check?

Take it to a reliable trans shop. Have it diagnosed. Early fwd trans can fail from just a bad adjustment..The computer controlled trans can quit from just a computer glitch or a sending unit/relay going south..

the trans is dead. Our 626 would hesitate under moderate acceleration but not light or full power. It changed over a year to where you are now, then I took it out and had a friend rebuild it
