1989 Chevy 350 TBI
Hey hows it going...My name is jared..I hate to say it but I am new to working on engines and dont know much...My project is my 1989 Chevy One Ton Pick Up It is a 350 TBI.... I have done some simple upgrades such as....
performance chip, Flowmaster headers, intake, 3in duals..I'm guessing stock shes pushing 200-220HP I've noticed a little power gain but nothing much. My tranny is a turbo 400 without overdrive, i was thinking of putting a stage two shift kit in it. is this something worth doing or should i think about swaping transmtions? I want more power.. What can I do? i thought about switching over to a carb is this a good idea? I'm looking to get big power.. Any help would be great. Thanks Jared.... |

gear ratio
You can find out the ratio in about 3min.
Supplies needed: 2 extra person 1creeper 2 stands 1 jack 1 pc. of chaulk 1. jack the truck up and support it 2. have one guy hold the one tire steady 3. index the other tire to a point on the fender with chaulk 4. index the companion flange to the differential housing 5. have the one side held tite with no movement, the other guy on the other side needs to turn the tire one full revolution, while the third guy underneth the vehicle observes the compaion flange and the numberr of turns that it rotates from the housing. Example 3.83 turns of the compaion flange to 1 turn of the tire. 3.83:1 gear ratio Hope that this helps Note: putting a performer carb intake wouldn't hurt, just remember that the 4 center bolts on the intake are at 70 degrees and not angled like the rest being TBI so you'll need Holley kit PN#90748 to adapt pre-86 intake to the TBI heads. Have fun with this project |
