1990 Chevy 350 question

O.K. ... here's the head scratcher.
I took the 1990 chevy van out the other day ,and I was happy that she's still running strong n smooth.
She's a '90 conversion with 143,000 on the clock. 350 with an OD trans .
The problem I'm trying to overcome is : When I push the throttle in more than 3/4 of the way , it slows down and revs alot higher. seems like it's downshifting , but no power , it gradually gets slower ( m.p.h.) . It's not bogging out , the rpms actually increase ( no tach , going off of my ears ) . It just slows down. Now , normally when you push the throttle in , you get the opposite effect - it goes more fasterest - NOT slowerer !!
What do y'all think is the culprit??.....

In addition to what Jmark suggested....Check the fuel pressure. A weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter could also cause this.

Is this happening mostly in high gear? If so it seems that your tranny is slipping and about to take a dump. Rebuild it before you fry it.
