1990 chevy k1500 5 speed conversion?

Hey, I put 285/75/16 Goodyear Duratrac tires on my 1990 chevy k1500 pickup, its a regular cab long bed. Now it lugs in and out of over drive when ever it feels like it, this is VERY annoying, to solve this problem, I'm looking to do a 5 speed conversion, my father has his own shop, so i'm not worried about labor rates, how much would it cost to convert it over, i believe i have a 700r4 in it now, AND, what would be the best tranny to put in, I have a 305 TBI engine in it right now. And will i be able to keep stock gearing for rear end, front axle, and transfer case?
Your help will be GREATLY appreciated!

In 1990, the Getrag 5LM60 was what 5spd K1500's got. You could use 1 of them. just need, pedals, master cyl and the trans crossmember from a donor. I would use a NV-3500 from '93-'95, which which would fit the same with the same parts but is a little stronger. NV-4500 if you didn't mind it shifting like a truck

I found a 1990 donor truck for $800 that has a new clutch throw out bearing, pressure plate. I could probly talk him down. Other then that I'd have to buy lines and all that. I might just go with that option. I appreciate your help!! I might swap to the stronger tranny if I need to later down the road.
