1991 Pontiac Firebird knock sensor location 5.0.

Where is the knock sensor on a 1991 Pontiac Firebird 5.0 TBI engine.I think it is on the passenger side right above oil pan rail but Autozone says it is in the head.Who is correct? Thanks.

Autozone is wrong. You are correct, it is next to the pan rail,closest to where the knocking would occur. L

Thanks. It is where the block drain plug is on the opposite side.

Yubber, that is what you are looking for.
Be sure the engine is cool when you remove it, as it will have coolant behind it.

I thank you all.I have the problem fixed. I don't work much on newer vehicles so sometimes I am unsure.I was sure I knew where it was and that there was coolant behind it. I was helping a friend with less experience than me put the engine in a 1948 Ford truck.When we started hooking up the wires we found a broken temp sensor in the passenger side head.Long story short,don't trust the guy looking on the computer at autozone.
