1991 rear end id

i have a 1991 rs camero with a 5 speed and a stock 10 bolt rearend can anyone tell me, or how to find out what kind of rear end it is ,7.5,8.5,8.8?? and the ratio?? im running a 350 with modifications what would be a good street/strip gear ratio?

The best way to tell what ratio you have is to pop the cover off and read the #'s on the ring gear. Most likely the oil in the rear end hasen't been changed in a long while anyways.

If it's the original should be the 7 5/8" 10 bolt. Also stock gear should be a 3.08 for a 5spd v8 RS. if it's a v6 think it was 3.42 for a 5spd. Autos were v8 2.73 v6 3.23. Not sure but I think there may have been some g92's which would've been a 3.42.

With a 24-26 inch tire use 3.42 gears. If you have or go to 3.73 or 4.10 go to 27-28 inch tall tire.

If your RS was V8 from the factory you have the 7-5/8 with 28 spline axles.
