Hey guys! I haven't posted here in forever. I just picked up a 1992 Chevy G20 Van, and the locks won't work from the outside. I figured it must just be a electrical issue, but I don't see any wires going to the outside key lock. SO does anybody know how these locks actually work? If you put the key in, you can only jiggle the lock, it doesn't turn more than about an 1/8". Just need to get a new key made probably? That actually just came to me while I was typing...The key will work on the very back barn doors. I don't know what the problem could be other than that.
Thanks for any input guys! I hope I didn't get into a bigger project than I was planning on...
I'd spend 15 minutes and pull the door panel. You might get lucky and find out the ignition and rear door locks have been changed and they didn't give you the door keys or one of those plastic clips is broken and jamming the latch. Or better still wads of 100 dollar bills jamming the mechanism. Half of would be mine for the finders fee. With the other half you can buy new latches and get the locks and handles shaved. If they are gone they cannot give you anymore trouble. Good luck. Perri
Hey man! I already have the panel pulled on one door. No money It looks like I just need to replace the locks. Like I said, the key will only move back and forth about an 1/8". It looks like they would work if it would move farther. I can unlock them by puting my hand inside and moving the parts manually...I think I am just going to call a locksmith. I am in Arizona to!
