1993 Cadillac STS Question

What would be the best thing to do with blown head gaskets for a 93 Cadi Northstar and how much should be expected to pay?

Labor alone is 10.8 hours, plus parts. So ballpark at somewhere around $1000?

You pretty much have to drop the engine cradle to pull the heads on this motor in the transverse FWD cars. Unfortunately at that point the MIGHTASWELLS kick in...

Fortunately you don't have to drop the cradle, but it is a royal PAIN to pull heads on GM transverse engines. I just did a 3800 supercharged engine and I was paid for 13.7 hours. It wasn't worth it. My hands are destroyed, my back hurts, and all of my flashlights have dead batteries.

Its a combination of putting the car up to drain coolant and three exhaust bolts, then down for most everything else, then up again for exhausts, then down for fluids... its not pretty.

Then you gotta figure the block threads are probably going, if not gone, and the Time-sert kit alone costs nearly $500, not including labor. The guys over at the Cadillac Forum talk about it being a $2500 to $3000 job if it's done right. The Time-sert kits come in two oversizes, leading me to believe the fact that mine drowned in a flood to not be such a bad thing.
