1993 chevy 5.7 engine

We have a 5.7 liter engine that we are putting in a 1987 chevy s-10 blazer. We are wondering what is the best transmission to use with it so we don't have to shorten the drive shaft? We were looking at either a 700r4 or a turbo 350. If one of these is what we can use then is there a certain year we need to look for one that will bolt up and work on this year engine?

Doesn't a 700R-4 come standard in S10s? If you are swapping out a 4.3 for the 5.7, the bolt patterns are the same, and the only thing that is different is the torque convertor. Depending on where the mounts place the engine, you shouldn't have to cut anything.

X2^^^,
Either will fit, S-10's came with 700R4. A TH350 with the 9" Tailhousing is also the same length.

If you are going to drive a lot, put the 700R-4 in. You won't regret the lockup convertor and the overdrive.

There is a 700R4 with the 60* Bellhousing, fits 2.8, 3.1 & 3.4L V6's and 2.5L 4cyl. But you're are correct it wont fit a 90* V8 or 4.3L V6.

Ok thanks for the help. My 350 has tbi and it has a 4L60-E connected to it and I put it on craigslist and iwanta for $450 does that sound like a fair price to yall it was rebuilt 2 months before totaled and it only has 100 miles on it.
