1993 GMC Vandura 3500 HD transmission swap

i have a 1993 GMC Vandura 3500HD box truck, the transmission is a 4l80E with Park brake attached to the tail housing. i recently purchased a 4l80E 2wd transmission with bolt in yoke from an individual that came out of a 1993 3500 truck, i am getting ready to swap transmissions and i am trying to figure out what i have to do to add the parking brake to the new transmission, just replace tailshaft housing? or replace both tail shaft and tail housing? any input would be helpful, thanks Fred

If the output shafts are the same length, you simply need to swap the tailhousing. If the output shafts are different, the entire trans (actually both) needs to come apart to swap them.

Thanks for your input Joe, i got the transmissions sitting side by side and tail shaft housings are off, the shafts do look different, mainly the length is 1/4 inch longer on the new transmission, the bearing journal is however in the right spot, and the splines are the same as far a teeth. from the aluminum lip of the seal area to the bottom of the splines (where the yoke would stop) on the new trans is 3 3/8 inches, and on the old trans it is 3 1/8 inches, from my stand point the only problem i see will be the washer on the bolt bottoming out on the shaft before the drum is tight, tell me if i am missing anything...id like to get this thing back together so i can get some work done. any help would be appreciated, thanks
