I think they just have to be moved forward.........could be wrong.

On my 92 chevy pickup with a 4.3, It has adaptors that bolt up where the small block holes are in the frame. They are swept back and I`m guessing this was the cheap and effective way for the factory to save money as well as provide the 8 inches of difference in the mounting points between the V6 and V8. If the adaptors are removed you should be able to bolt up regular small block mounts and drop in your V8, unless at some point they stopped using these and bolted the mounts directly to the frame. Even if they did the small block holes will still be present in the frame.
