1995 S10 P/U Engine Replacement

I currently have a 95 S10 auto p/u with a 4.3 Vortex, oil line broke and it was run dry and seized. I would like to replace the engine but not sure if I am better to see if what I have can be fixed or swap it for another 4.3, my question is, should I stay with the same model truck and year in order to ensure that all wiring and computers match or are the 4.3's interchangeable. I was offered a 1991 4.3 with auto transmission with NO wiring or computer.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If your heads are good you could take the 91 engine and strip it down to a short block and then build the long block out of your 95 engine.

I have heard of a few times of the oil cooler lines breaking. Every truck that I have that I use for any recreational use (off roading, trail riding, snow plowing, etc) I always do away with the oil cooler lines. Just install an oil temp gauge and pay attention to it.
