i'd take the new one and the old one into the parts dealer and show him that its not the same. if you ordered and OEM cam then it should be the same as the old one. try going to a chevy dealer in the parts department and show him what the parts store gave you. they should be able to help ya out.
and if you bought the cam at autozone... its probably the wrong one. their computers are so screwed up with wrong part numbers and mis-matched info its not funny. they dicked me over 3 times, on simple stuff that i dont even go back anymore.
if the journals on the cam arent identical to the old one, i wouldnt even waste my time trying to use it. your likely to roast the bearings. well, hope i've helped. good luck.
