1999 2 door 2.2 Cavalier auto to 5 speed swap what do I need

Hi, I have a 2 door cavalier 2.2L 1999 that Im converting from automatic to 5 speed. Does anyone know what all i would have to do to make the computer happy? Its stalling every time I shift. Still has automatic computer. I think the 5 speed is the same anyway. Computer reprogram needed?

The computers are transmission specific. You may be able to get yours reflashed.

so I take it thats most likely the problem then. I tried putting a 5 speed computer in but wouldnt run for long because of the theft thing killing it. Swapped ignition switch stuff but still had theft light. not sure 5 speed computer one was the exact year

Not sure I want to reflash if it wont solve the between shifts issue. Not even sure what I would tell a dealer if I took it there, or would they know what to do.

Just go to a local scrap yard and get your self a 98-99 5 Speed computer. Or get a Gm reflash. Automatic and standard use the same computer but with diferant files on them. If you do decide to get a used computer make sure to disconect the batterie before changing the computer other wise u will turn on anti-theft.
