1999 chevy 6.5 turbo diesel shuts off while driving

I have a 1999 Chevy 3500 turbo diesel that I just got last week, while driving yesterday the truck shut off while slowing down for a red light I was able to restart and it has not happened again, I also noticed the the oil pressure gauge reads around 16 when at an idle, this is my first diesel and I'm lost on it. It seems to run fine but I have not made any long trips, should I be concerned or any ideals on what would cause this.

Change the fuel filter. Any blockage in a diesel's fuel system will cause trouble. If you don't mind me asking, why did you buy a 6.5 instead of a cummins or powerstroke? What new parts were on it when you bought it and how many miles does it have on it?

I just got a good deal on it, the truck has 190,000 on it but the block has about 60,000 on it, its a jasper, the owner thought the transmission was out and it turned out to be a wiring harness issue. I needed a truck to pull my camper that had a better payload than my titan. Thanks for the reply

Thats good. Im guessing that means there's a new crank in it. The stock ones are prone to cracking around 200,000 miles.
