Think we need a little more info. How many miles, any previous problems. Have you checked fluid, does it smell burnt or look different? You need to put a pressure gauge on the tranny and get some readings.

Its only a yr since rebuild. Maybe 15k?
Wont shift into 2 or 4th manually or auto. I just need to know how to test the band and servo seperately to determine which one it is.

4l60e problems not shifting to 2nd and 4th?

One guy at another place asked the same question.
He finally found his own answer. Just passing it forward:

Replying my own quote. I found the issue with my trans.
I dropped the pan, checked to make sure the servo was working and engaging the band. Worked Jim Dandy. Dropped the valve body, tore it down, checked and cleaned. checked the electronics, all good. Turns out after a phone call to local trans shop/parts supplier, he is about 70 years old. He told me to check my separator plate. Sure enough, there lies the problem. 2 holes were elongated. Bought a Trans-Go separator plate, He drilled a couple holes out. Put it all back together. Works perfect.

The separator plate is part of the valve body.
You need to do some checking on things first of all. If you need a plate, when you buy it, it will come with instructions for any mods to be made. If you call for parts, they will walk you through it.
