Somehow, I think you lost me. Are you talking the bolts that hold the carb to the intake? I'm guessing that if that's the case, you have a 2bbl carb presently and are switching to a 4bbl carb. Once again, with the "if that's the case", you'll need to change the intakes unless you have an adapter plate (which I've only read about) to allow you to use a 4bbl on a 2bbl intake.

In a while, Chet.

2 bolt carb

hi ,if you go to speedway.com or jegs.com you can probably find an aluminum adapter for the 2 brl to 4 brl carb.ive never used one,so i cant tell you how much performance youll get out of it. but it should be better than the 2 brl.

you need a 4 barrel duel plane intake, a adapter would be a waste of money, if you can even find one

i've had a friend that tried to pinch some pennies when he changed his intake to a performer on his 350. he kept the 2 barrel carb(because he just changed it a month earlier) using an adapter, and the car was a total dog. when he finally changed to a holley 4 barrel, the difference was night and day. if you could get some pictures of what intake you have we might be able to help a little better. if you are planning to upgrade your 305 to a 4 barrel intake, you might be better off getting a rebuilt Q-Jet carb.

I think he's talking about the factory penny-pinching job where they bolt down a 2-bbl carb with only two bolts, diagonal from each other. He's wondering if a similar 2-bbl carb with 4 bolt holes will leak with only 2 bolts holding it. I figure it won't leak any more than the old one did, but I could be wrong.

I don't usually comment on engine stuff but I have run into this one. A 2 bbl that had the 2 bolt setup was changed out to a carb with 4 bolt holes and it worked fine. I have seen the carbs on these setups with 4 holes and some with just 2 but the number of holes in the carb does not seem to make much difference. Seems kind of cheap any way you look at it.

OK, I'll bite. Why are you calling it a 2 bolt intake?

The other two holes can be easily drilled and tapped.
