Slow morning and not a big deal,it just that Doc here lives in the expensive part of the US, just kidding. Anyway, Radio Shack # 2761101 package of two 1n4001 diodes $.59. Having their number might help, in case you get the guy I got and he told me that the persons who buy these things know what they are doing (which I don't). I had to show him which drawer said "diodes" cause he was looking in switches or resistors drawer.

I still have an original stock fuel gauge in my 67 cluster that had a weak spring. It was either full all the time or in the middle. No 'Low'. Then I replaced the sender unit in the tank - the same deal. After that I added an Autometer 0-90 Ohm GM gauge to get a better picture. Once the new gauge was added, the stock one went out of its mind and started showing 'You-have-200-gallon-tank-which-is-overfilled' all the time due to the added resistance. The new one still worked great. I figured it would be a good idea to finally fix my stock one, by adding the diode to the wire to get it back online.

I wish I had a mother-in-law, but I have a wife, and yes she nags too about other things.

Those guy's at Radio Shack aren't always the sharpest Crayons in the box..Some do alright if you give them a clue of how to find what you need..where it located and what it does..(self service..or just clueless..your call..)

Just be thankful they Don't use the excuse "Sir, like..I can't help ya if.. like..ya don't know the year of the diode.."

On goes the intercom to wherever they hide the managers..manager pergotory..I feel like I'm at Jack in the Box...
