2 step rev limiter

What's up with 2 step rev limiters?

I admit I don't know much about them, and do not get it on the street. They seem to be used more on turbo charged vehicles.

If you rev your engine and it sounds smooth on the street it is one thing. In parking lots guys are bouncing off the rev limiter idling around. Is that cool?

When they are showing off, sometimes they will hold it against the rev limiter. It sounds like somebody threw a pack of firecrackers in the muffler. It makes little sense. You cannot tell the rpm, or engine quality.

I never had a customer ask for his car to sound like it has internal problems.

Just kids being door knobs and having fun.

They come in handy in a trans brake car at the track though.

I used the MSD 2 step once in the past at the strip. For consistency. I wanted to make sure I was launching at the same rpm.

Yeah , they are clowning around. Finding new uses for things everyday.

I was kind of a knob too.
