$200 muncie now, or save $$ for a 5speed?

i might could getta M-20 for cheap depending on what it's innerds look like for $200, to replace the powerslide in my tempest
<--
either way it will have to be a while before i have enough money for the bell housing and linkage and shifter and everything. should i wait and $ave my money ($1,800) for a tremec 5 speed or six speed? the idea is to leave my 326 in the car and use gears to keep it in the powerband rather than buying and building a 455. if i was to do that, a powerglide wouldnt be so terrible but it does suck. and my gears are pretty tall i'm sure.
