It does have a manual lock up and it bucks like hell when coasting but its even worse when going down hill. If I switch off the lock up......she smooths right out. Fluid is clean and full.

Slowing or coasting is not good in lock-up mode. It's like slowing down in 4th gear with a manual trans with out steeping on the clutch.
I had a manual lock-up switch in my firebird and had to learn to unlock it when slowing down for a stop. If I forgot, it would let me know right away! I made a bracket to mount a toggle switch on my shifter for easy access. After you override the auto lock-up control to manual, the head has to do the work.
