[Regal Beagle]

I have a 200-R4 hooked to a SBC in my 85 Regal. I replaced the converter last year (2200 Stall) and all was good until just a week or so ago.
It seems when i lock up the converter that I have what feels like a surging when coasting. Any ideas if this is converter related? The transmission was just rebuilt 2 summers ago with all the best internals so I am scratching my head on this one.
As always, your help is greatly appreciated.

I thought the converter was supposed to unlock when you coast. Do you have a manual lock-up? Fluid level up?

It does have a manual lock up and it bucks like hell when coasting but its even worse when going down hill. If I switch off the lock up......she smooths right out. Fluid is clean and full.

Slowing or coasting is not good in lock-up mode. It's like slowing down in 4th gear with a manual trans with out steeping on the clutch.

I had a manual lock-up switch in my firebird and had to learn to unlock it when slowing down for a stop. If I forgot, it would let me know right away!
I made a bracket to mount a toggle switch on my shifter for easy access.

After you override the auto lock-up control to manual, the head has to do the work.
