2000 to buff / factory-type finish...
Greetings ; last Tuesday I shot PPG DBU silver metallic & covered it with 3 coats of DBC 2021 clear - great results for my 1st bc/cc full repaint.
I tried to post some pictures but do not have an editor to shrink.
Aside from the hood, the peel is basically a factory-type finish and is acceptable to me as is with the exception of some small black flies, dirt & debris in several areas that will require some further attention.
Time frame - how long should I wait before addressing the bugs/dirt/hood peel and your recommendations/procedures on how to correct. Can I hit the various areas/spot sand 2000 & buff or do I need to sand the whole car. If I sand/buff the hood will it be a mis-match to the other panels.
Since I have no real cutting/buffing experience, I'm looking for a basic outline of the best method/s... what grit/s ....sand in straight line...stay away from the edges.. use soft block... etc. etc.
I'm sure this has been recycled many times on cutting & buffing.....but I'm not looking for a show car finish - just a factory-type. Again ,if not for the hood and debris I would let it ride - is it possible to just get away with a little sanding/buffing?
I have the following compounds already on the shelf - 3M Perfect-it II/3M Finessse-it II/3M Imperial microfinishing & 3M Imperial hand glaze. Along with your wet-sanding & buffing how-to's , please also pass along your recommendations on using the above compounds as well.
After getting this far - I prefer not want to go backwards!
Thanks in advance for your help in getting me this project to the next level.
