2000 durango 5.9L 360

ok guys here it is , my wife was driving her durango and the water pump went out , she continued to drive it another 40 some miles . R it till it shut off and i had to go find her on the interstate and bring it and her back home . i tore it apart and found that both heads were cracked . i have been through 8 sets of heads and have only found one that wasnt cracked , still looking . What i want to know is will a set of early 70"s 360 heads (202 intake 160 exhaust) work on a 2000 durango 360 . i have a set fresh from the machine shop .

The early 70's heads are different from the later Magnum heads. They will bolt on but there is no provision to get the oil to the rocker shafts. The Magnum heads oil through the pushrods similar to a SBC. There are other differences but that's the biggie.

If it overheated to the point of shutting off there might be more damage than cracked heads. Not that you wanted to hear that.

360 heads

yeah i have already figured on that , but after taking the whole top end off i rotated the crank and checked for any cylinder wall damage and also checked for any differences in the hight of all the pistons. dont know what else to check for.
