2000 silverado 5.3 tranny problem

I have a 2000 silverado 5.3 with a problem of the tranny slips in and out of overdrive while driving at 43-47 mph. Does anyone know what could be the cause? Thanks everyone for any help.

mileage on this vehicle and trans?

has the vehicle been scanned with a quality scanner? Need to verify the PCM is commanding this action or if the trans has internal errors/problems.

Could be a TPS worn spot putting faulty info to the PCM ( an example the scan may turn up)

It's probably just hunting, an annoying characteristic when it's in the speed range that's almost fast enough for 4th and almost slow enough for 3rd.

Talk to your dealer as GM put out a fix for this.

This is going to sound out there, but I had a similar type problem (shifting) on a 2000 Yukon (same Motor and Trans)-turned out to be a dirty MAP sensor-(they scanned it, no codes, didn't completely believe me, as it didn't do it all the time-put on a Data logger and sent the results to GM)replaced sensor, end of problem-

35window, Thanks for the info, I took my truck to a coleman taylor transmission shop, the manager a fellow streetrodder, said he thinks it could be the t.p. sensor (throttle position sensor) which i will replace this week so stay tune.
