2000 Vortec Swap - Engine Won't Run - Vats?

Hi Everyone,

I just did a motor swap, from a 2000 Chevy Vortec into a 1989 TBI Truck. I got the computer, and the wiring harness with the motor for the swap. I bolted and soldered everything up, but its not done yet.

I did all of the conversion myself. The vehicle starts and runs, but only for two seconds!

My helper suggested that I check into the VATS system, and he said that there is a way to bypass the VATS system to get it to run for us.

How is this done?

Can anyone help me get this truck running so I can go to work on Monday?

Somethings not right in the fuel pump relay curcuit. The relay comes on for 3 seconds on crank then needs to see the run curcuit to keep it going. Bypass the FP relay going from + to the pump start it and see if it still runs. Would have to get a wiring diagram to see how the 2 systems are different in this part of the relay. Ray

w/ the engine swap did you get the body control module and ign. key. if not the vats might be doing what mine is doing and shutting down the injectors. i woul suggest having your ecm reflashed. josh

Painless Wiring sells a vats module which will eliminate that as a problem. Simple 2 wire hookup.
