2003 4l60e swapped out for a 2002 model?
 

i have a 2003 gmc sierra z71 with a 4l60e. i lost 3rd gear. i was told i had to change it out with another 2003 tranny because off changes in the electronics. they have 2 2002 trannys available but said they could not be swapped out with a 2003 model. anyone no if theres anyway i can use the 02 model. how much of a difference would electronic changes make? the trannys looked exactly the same

in 2003 , GM changed the mhz rating and connector on the PCS on the valve body.

I have swapped in older design (pre 2003) into newer vehicles and had no problems or codes set.

I would think swap in the newer version into older design application vehicle , would be fine too. Have veriifed that

could i simply put my 2003 valve body in place of the valve body in the 2002 tranny?
