2003 chevrolet silverado instrument panel

does anyone know how to check out the instrument panel on my truck? got in today and nothing works. could this be a main fuse somewhere? everything else works on truck etc radio and radio controls on steering wheel
but nothing works co-ordinated with the instrument panel.

Most likely sources are a bad ground for the panel, blown main fuse (but it seems like there would be more than one fuse for the panel), or a main plug that has come apart. Power for the panel may also be controlled by a power relay, so it might also be a bad relay.

I'd get out your fuse box diagram and start looking for a very large amp fuse. On that vintage of truck I think there are at least two 50 or 60 amp fuses in a box mounted under the hood.

The good thing about a problem like this is that its probably very easily fixable, and it may not cost much to buy a new relay or fuse, or to reconnect a plug or ground wire. However, in the meantime you don't have a working instrument panel.

Good luck,

Bruce
