2003 Land Rover Discovery Steering Issues

I need some help with a 2003 LandRover Discovery. THis is my girlfriends car and there is NO power steering. The car sat parked for a year and we are now trying to get it going. It was sitting because of the steering issue. I put fluid in and bled the gear box and NOTHING happened. This USE TO work, but no longer. I'm sure the pump needs tobe replaced...is it possible that the gear box could have gone bad as well?

Thanks,
Steve

I'd check the lines for obstructions (is the pump noisy?). If there's a spool valve, it might have gone bad. The steering box wouldn't go bad from just sitting, unless there was water in it.

There IS a belt on the pump?

there IS belt on it. There is no noise coming from the pump at all. She claimed that the pump use to leak which I'm not finding now at all. i don't think there is a clog as there is fluid coming out of the bleeding valve when i open it. (only when I turn the wheel to the right) If the box is opperated with NO fluid, will it damage the steering box?
