2004 Impala brake problem

I work part time for a Ford dealer. There is a 2004 Impala in the shop that the brake pedal goes almost to the floor the first time you touch it and then it's okay unless you go into reverse. If you go into reverse and then back to drive, it goes to the floor again the first time and then it's okay and the brakes work fine. They replaced the master cylinder and that didn't fix it. Any ideas?

Wierd.

Check and see if it has an automatic parking brake release controlled by vacuum, like the Lincoln's do. It could be a diaphram leak when the release mode is tripped during the R-F shift? I would think that would make the pedal hard instead of going down, but.....Just guessing, but their must be some reason the shifting makes a difference.

Does it have anti-lock brakes?

Please post back when the solution is found. Thank you. :)
