2004R vs 700R4 ?

Income tax time is right around the corner and i think im gonna can the idea of a saginaw 3-speed tranny, along with the TH350. Bowtie overdrive has both the 700R4 and the 2004R for a $1020.00 for the level 2# for car's and truck's. I know that the 2004R will fit right in like a TH350 tranny, and the 700R4 will take some more prep work to fit because it's longer and has a 30 spline. I understand that the 2004R has a better gear spread than the 700R4 does, but what would be the big difference between either one for a daily driver, street crouser pickup. The truck is a (1976 GMC shortbed 1/2 ton pickup) that's around 4000lbs. with a 355 sbc, S/R torquer's, 9.3 c/r, 3.40 gear's, 28in radias tire (P275/R60/15) front and back. Dont plan to haul or pull or race just crouse!!!!!!

re: 2004R vs 700R4 ?

I like my 700-r4 just fine in my camaro but we will see what happens when I get some power behind it. My grandpa took a 700r4 out of his truck in 20 min pulling a dog house(for the rigs) it almost burnt the truck down. 700's are also easyier to get aholed of and most likely cheaper.
