Have you checked the oil? Is it low?

The light comes on due to low oil pressure. That can have a couple of reasons.
One ur oil level is too low and the oil pump is sucking in air.
Or the pump itself is bad and not creating enough pressure anymore.
Im not sure if a faulty oil pressure switch would cause that as well but it could b possible.
Either way bad news for the engine. I would not run the engine at all until its clear what causes it to prevent catastrophic failure of the engine!

low oil pressure

I have changed a lot of the oil pressure sending units. Its a common problem on the 3.5 & 3.9. I just did mine in my 08 impala. It is by the oil filter. Hope thats all it is, good luck.
