2007 mkz

Do any of you ford guys know how you check and add oil to the front diff. on a 2007 linc. mkz all wheel drive. Seems to have a leak between the two halfs but couldn't see any way to check it.

I first ran into this crazyness a few years ago when I sold Toyotas. The new models came out with a sealed trans, no dipstick.

It's a good idea to have a factory service manual on hand in the event you want to do your own maintenance or repairs.....

I ran into that a while back. Fill it through the drain hole by making a rubber plug for a squeeze bottle . Naturally all the fluid will run out when you pull the plug. Drain it. Check it for metal.
Use GL-5 rated gear oil.It may take 3 pints so you will need to change the bottle once.
Jam the plug into the drain, fill , and be quick to plug the hole when removing the filler plug. Its the only way I know.

I checked with ford today and it comes factory oiled and isn't suppose to need to be changed or added to. But they said in case of a small leak theres a plug on the side if you can get to it. Then you bend a wire tie at a 90* at 1 3/4"s long, stick it though the hole and it should show a 1/4" of oil on it. Leave it to Ford. THese new cars are something else. I hate to tell the dummies anything with oil in it will leak sooner or later.
