Chrysler gets a real thumbs up from me for doing this car, finally a real retro look, no extra doors, and a look that's all muscle. I wish Chevrolet would have been more truer to the 69 like they originally planned instead of the totally futuristic look they ended up with.

Will any of these cars be available without power windows, AC, radio, like the bare bones muscle cars of the day? doubt it...

That car is gonna blow Chevrolet's doors off. They are going to be so sorry they went with the stupid look of the new Camaro instead of going with a more retro look. Chevy learned nothing from Ford's experience with the Mustang IMO.

I work in the plant that will be making the Camaro. It will be low volume car. What is good is that now we have a plant that will be able to make a rear drive platform. GM has a few nice rear drive models coming out after the launch of the Camaro. I love the looks of the Challenger, but I think in a year or so, after seeing tons on the road, it will just blend in like the rest of the cars. Remember when the 300C first came out?? Everyone went nuts over it. Now, it's an old man's car. Dan

Hemi, this is all a big guess but I have to disagree with your idea that people will blow off the Challenger after a few years, look at what the Mustang is doing now and it's two years old-still selling like hotcakes. The Challenger might even do better. The fact is they are working with a proven bodystyle and some major history. GM could have done way better with the Camaro in keeping with the 69 look and kept the options down and also the price-would have made for more sales I bet-but time will tell. People haven't gotten tired of the original 69 design from what I've seen.

08 Challenger

I do like the looks of the new Mustang, I look every time one passes. I think the 08 Challenger looks great, it is styled beatifully. I did not like the look of the Camaro at all. I wish they had copied the 70 1/2 with the open grille and lack of front bumper. This is my favorite year. I agree they missed the retro mark. The look will endure, just like the current Mustang.

Wasn't sure they were serious!

Well it's about time there was SOME clue they were REALLY going to build it. If you go to the Dodge web site, their "News" on the Challenger was released in July of 06.

They haven't changed a thing on their web site, I haven't heard a word about it, and some of the guys that were excited about it probably forgot about it and moved on. I know my plans have changed.

They sure started out nice in the beginning drawing interest, but let it go to hell after that!

Maybe I'll get a used one some day....

Steve

They are coming out in September/October of this year as a 2008 model. I just called the dealer to confirm. The dealer wants a $500 deposit to be on the list.

I found this pic of a race version they built to promote the car with a 6.4L hemi
