200R4 to TH350

The 200R4 transmission in my '84 half ton Chevrolet pickup has died.

I will be replacing it with a TH350 not because I dislike the overdrive, but because I have a spare TH350 and Id rather not invest any money in the tired old truck.

The 200R4 has a lockup torque converter. Can I use the torque converter from the 200R4 with the TH350?

the converters are NOT interchangeable from a t-350 to a 200-4r.

Did you install the 200-4r in the truck ? Or some one else? GM never built the 1/2 ton trucks with a 200-4r is why I ask.

good luck

That is very interesting.

No, I did not install the 200R4 transmission in the truck.

Im sure the transmission is an overdrive transmission with four forward speeds plus a lockup.

There was no such thing as a 700R4 in 1984 was there??

Did my homework and you are correct, the transmission is in fact a 700R4.

If your T-350 has a 9" tailshaft housing, it's the same length as a 700R4, and your driveshaft won't need to be modified. That's the unit that came in most '73-up Chevy pickups. Most car trannys had a 6" tailshaft housing.
