2100 stall in truck

The TH350C is going out of my truck and I plan to install a regular Th350.
Will a 2100 stall converter work well behind a mild 350, 212/222 @ .050 435/460 lift, headers, 600 holley, aluminum intake (just standard stuff) and 3.08 gears with 28 inch tires? 4000lb truck.

I already have the converter and trans cooler just wondering if I should put them in or not.

Since you have the converter; I'd say put it in. It is not that much increase in stall over the stock converter, so don't expect any major changes.

It will work OK as long as you don't plan on pulling a trailer that often. You should feel the engine rev up a little more before it starts to move during more aggressive throttle input. But driving slow with light throttle, it should feel like a stock converter. You will lose about 1 or 2 mpg with the high stall converter.

I have a TCI 2000 rpm stall in my 70 C10, 454, TH400, 3.08 gear, 28 in tall tires, 4000lbs, and when pulling a 3000 lb trailer it will stall at 2800 rpm! I'm sure the 454 has an effect of the higher stall, but you see would I mean.

I recently bought a 1500 rpm stall Hughes towing converter to try and re-gain some mpg and allow towing without excessive transmission heat. But I haven't had the time to pull the transmission to install it.

man i about crapped my pants when i saw your icon and your name. i got a truck like that too and my name is jesse too... i scored a race built tranny from a parts trade, and when the trans in my truck let go, i decided that it should be able to handle being that is was built with race parts and shift kit with the same 2100 stall. it was weird driving it. if i throttled it easily off the light, it would slip and then grab(hence the stall). if i hit the throttle hard, it would grab kind of hard. hence to say, i fried that trans. all that slipping in a 4200lb truck, to begin with is a little on the danger side. and not knowing any better, i still towed and hauled things. when it started slipping really bad, i had a feeling it was going, and when it finally did, it was blowing fluid out of the front seal. limping it home was fun, smoking out the whole road.. i would think that 454's advice would be good, if you still plan to tow and haul stuff... as for me, back to a stock converter. it was nice to see what a stall does, but an expensive lesson learned.

Thanks for the replies,

I installed the tranny on Saturday and so far it seems to be o.k. It was used, it was in my 68 nova when I bought it. I know, someone installed the long tail shaft tranny and cut the driveshaft!! The kid told me it has a shift kit and by the looks of it, it seems to have the plate in it like the one in a Transpak kit. but it doesn't really shift that hard. It's been sitting for a few years and I installed new front and rear seals, filter and threw in some $2 conditioner. Wish me luck.

if you put in type F fluid it will shift harder. and it will still work ok. dexton/mercon 2 makes the shifts smoother.
